Making visible progress in growing a business is often what helps to drive us on to bigger and better things.
Sometimes however, it can seem as though you are just treading water – getting nowhere fast. If you know that feeling or can relate to it, you will understand when I say that this can lead to a great deal of discomfort and anxiety. This, in its own right, can exacerbate business performance.
Doubts can set in as to whether or not you will succeed. You may be asking “is it all worth it?”. Or, you may be feeling that you’re drowning in a sea of uncertainty and that you don’t know what to do/how to get yourself out of the predicament you find yourself in.
Okay. Let’s compare this then to actually be in the process of physically drowning at the beach. What do you do?
You raise your hand and yell for help from the lifesavers on duty! Yes?
Because you don’t want to go under – to drown.
The question is then – “Wouldn’t you want do the same for your business – to rescue it (and you) from going under?”.
The wisest business owners know that they alone don’t have all the answers and that sometimes it pays to seek help from others. Get a second or third pair of eyes to look at the business. Look at what changes can be made to improve the business’s performance.
This could be in any one of a multitude of areas. Improving cashflow, reshaping the staff culture, instituting greater efficiencies through better systems/procedures. Then there are marketing and customer service considerations to be looked at.
The real lesson here is – “if you feel that you need help with your business, then ASK FOR IT!”.
